Gregory "Dolli" Dolieslager Obituary - 2022 (2024)

Our hearts are so sad, as we have to say goodbye to our little brother, Greg, after he sustained a head injury in a terrible fall. Gregory “Dolli” P. Dolieslager, 69, of Kewanee, died, Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. He was born December 4, 1952, in Kewanee, to his wonderful parents, Merle and Lois (Norine) Dolieslager. Greg grew up with his big brother, Steve and his sister, Norine “Sis”. He graduated from Kewanee High School. He was an army veteran, who served his country stationed mostly in Germany. He was a die-hard Cub and Chicago Bear fan. He had a great love for music. He was in a pick league for many years. He learned his meat cutting skills from Leo Cone’ in his Red and White neighborhood grocery store on the west side. He continued his career working as a meat cutter, at Eagle’s Grocery and later retiring from Sullivan Grocery store.

Greg is survived by his brother, Stephen “Steve” Dolieslager; sister, Norine “Sis” (Tom) Lippens; uncles and aunts, Don “Pros” (Jane) Dolieslager and Bill (Sherry) Griffen. His loving nieces, Laura Lippens, Angie (Brad) Pronschinske, Candy Dolieslager Batchelor, and Michelle (Graham) Drozeski; his nephew, Shane (Shelly) Dolieslager; great nephews, Blake Lippens, Ryder Dolieslager, Jonah Batchelor; and great nieces, Marlee and Magnolia Dolieslager. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Susan Jane.

Greg will be remembered by his gruff voice and laughter, his love to party, his stubbornness, and his love to argue (he never lost an argument) Greg had many helpful neighbors, especially Jim Kelly, who was there whenever needed.

Greg’s wishes were to be cremated and be a donor to Gift of Hope. No services are planned at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.

The family is very grateful for the many years of Henry County Health Services of home care for Greg. The family also appreciates very much and thanks OSF St. Luke’s Medical Center in Kewanee, ED and OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Neuro-Science ICU, for the compassionate and professional care received in his final days. We will never forget how much you cared for Greg and his family. Please leave an online condolence for Greg’s family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com. “Loved ones may leave this world, but they never leave our hearts.”
